Oceanside

After spending the 4th in Bend, we packed up the family and headed to the beach to spend the weekend with Trav, Bridg, Lincoln and Bridg's parents. They rented a beach house in Oceanside for a week and invited us to tag along for a few days. We love hanging out with the Beasleys any time they come out from the east coast - which, luckily, happens a few times a year. We have come to think of them as our surrogate parents!
Our traditional pit-stop with the dogs. Every road trip, we stop at this forest service spot and give the dogs a break. Brian decided he needed a pic here to document it.
Poor Tristan got uber car sick on the way there. We went a way we've never been before and now know we'll never go again. As soon as we we saw the sign that told us that 20 miles of super curves were ahead, we had an inkling it was a bad idea. And then 10 minutes later when we pulled over for the second time to clean up puke, we swore to ourselves this would be the last time we take this route. Poor guy ran out of all his back-up clothes and had to wrap sissy's blanket around him. And poor mom and dad almost reenacted the pie-eating contest from Stand By Me. Yuck.
Even though it was a treacherous way to go, it was beyond beautiful. I know that we've only lived in the high desert climate for six weeks, but I already miss the rainforest look to western Oregon :(
The beautiful scene right from the front windows of our beach house.
And this was the spectacular sunset our first night...aaahhh.
I woke up the next morning to see that both boys had already found each other. And had found the iPhone to distract them as the adults tried to squeeze one more hour in of sleep.

I swear none of these photos were staged. They never left each other's side all weekend. And whenever I told them to say, "cheese", Tristan would look at Lincoln and laugh. These two crack me up.

My sweet Talia who couldn't play with the big boys yet, but was content to just lay around.

This was the most amazing beach!

Most of the group went clamming and brought back enough for a huge batch of clam chowder. It was a long process, but so good!
Tristan decided to serenade the cooks while Talia and I caught up on some interesting literature.
Who says vacation is all fun?? Trav had to sneak away to get some work done.
Our last night at beach house with our wonderful hosts! Thanks again, Beasleys!!
All you need :)
Our last day at the beach was a little cloudy, but still beautiful :)
