The Pickle!

The Pickle has been a notorious boating figure within our friend group for a few years now. It all started when the Netzels bought this beauty from his stepdad a few years ago. Sadly, the only times we ever went on it was up at their cabin. Since it didn't get a lot of water time and mainly sat (as an eyesore to Lo) in the front of their house for a few years, it was time to sell it to someone who was desperate for a boat. And who could be desperate enough for a 1972, pea-green cruiser?? Well, Trac, Dave, Brian & I of course! Yes, the members of Team Danger are now the official co-owners of The Pickle - yikes!! We also got a pretty good deal - let's just say that our part was less than what Tristan's stroller cost (to be fair, Brian did call his stroller his first and only vehicle he will have until he pays for the next one himself :)

Today was our Maiden Voyage with The Pickle. And yes, Team Danger lived up to their name! We first started off the cruise with the Land Rover stuck in the water at the loading dock. Apparently, the trailer was stuck under the edge of the dock and wouldn't budge. By the time us girls got there 45 minutes later to meet them, Brian and Dave were still trying to "unstuck" it. In the end, Brian and Dave had to lift the trailer while I drove it out of the water. Wow - #1 close call!

#2 close call - While waiting for the Land Rover & trailer to make it out of the water, The Pickle was tied up to the dock. Well, someone forgot to attach the buoys to the dock side which completely scratched it up! Sad that it's been around for almost 40 years and it gets it's first scratches on Team Danger's Maiden Voyage! Would you expect anything less??

#3 close call - After we finally started on our first voyage, everything seemed to be going well until we made it downtown. That's when The Pickle decided it would be the perfect time to die in the middle of the river. As "three hour tour..." played in my head, I began calculating how many bottles I had for Tristan just in case we were stranded for awhile. Luckily I figured out that we had approximately four hours before I went into full on panic mode. While we were trying to figure out what we were going to do, a very nice sailboat offered to tow us to the nearest dock. As they were throwing us their rope, The Pickle finally started up again. Needless to say, that was enough excitement for the day and we decided to cruise back to the loading dock before we noticed a hole in the boat, too.

Our (almost) rescue sailboat

All in all, yes, we did have a good time. Here are the pics to prove it:
