I guess you could say Mother's Day really started on Thursday when Brian watched Little Man for two days so that I could go away with my staff for a faculty retreat to Astoria. As hard as it was to leave him for two whole days and one night, it was really nice to connect with all the amazing teachers at my school. Especially since I don't get to see them as much this year now that I'm part-time. During those couple of days, I realized how fortunate I am to work with such great people at such a wonderful school. I am also thankful for my generous husband who pretty much took two days off work so that I could go on this retreat.
Truth be told, this is actually a picture of a photograph we were given at the retreat - I can't take credit for it! I wish I would have gotten some pictures to document such a great couple days!
Then on Saturday night, Brian also watched T Man so that I could join all of the ladies at Lawrence's for a "girls night in". It's a rarity that 10 of us can find a weekend that works for everyone (we missed you Jenna!) A lot of wine and pizza were consumed as we all stayed late night, laughing while playing games. And since seven of us were mommies, a very special thank you goes out to our hubbies for letting us have a mommy's night out - it was a great segue into our Mom's Day! And I'm so bummed I didn't pull out the camera to capture this night!
And then on Mommy's Day, I was treated with breaksfast in bed by my cute little men. I was also given these sweet cards and was surprised that even Bella & Brody remembered, too! It was an overall nice and relaxing day!
(Not sure why these pics are upside down and sideways - trying to work on it...)
It's hard to imagine that this time last year was our due date. I remember waking up that day thinking, "this could be it!" We spent the day walking around the waterfront hoping to get things moving. It's funny to think that he still had another week before he was ready (and even then wasn't really ready!) What a difference a year makes!
I can't believe how lucky I am to be a mom to such an amazing little boy. He has blessed my life in more ways than I could ever describe. Being a mom to him is the most inspiring, exciting and fulfulling thing I could ever do. Each day gets better and better - thank you, Tristan, for being apart of our lives! You are the best gift I could have ever been given!!
