Road Trippin'

Well, we made it. I was a little nervous about our first long road trip, but we're here at Brian's parents' house in Montana and loving our vacation! I think "loving" may be an understatement for Brian - is there a word that tops that? Enamored, in heaven? Whatever the word, it's still hard to explain how much he loves waking up and choosing between fishing or fishing for the day. I love waking up to the beautiful view of the Madison Range and not having to make any decisions during the day. It's one of the few places where I truly feel like I can "go with the flow".

Some people were a little surprised to learn that we were taking our six week old on a 12 hour road trip. But we thought this was the perfect time to go since he mostly likes to sleep and eat right now. I don't think this will be as easy in a year when he mostly wants to run around and doesn't want to sit in a car seat for 12+ hours!

We actually broke the trip in half and stopped in Wentachee (outside Spokane) to attend my Aunt Judy's wedding. We are so happy for my aunt, especially since everything she has been through in the past two years. We also timed leaving Portland just right so that we could watch the World Cup game in Yakima - USA vs. Ghana. It was Tristan's first sporting event. It was such a great game, although the outcome was pretty disappointing. After the game, we met up with Trav & Bridg and took advantage of the few hours we had left and went wine tasting. This was definitely a great way to start off our Road Trip!

So crazy to see these all over the gorge - they are everywhere!

Watching the World Cup - even with all the cheering, he managed to sleep through it!

Love this video of him "cheering" on the US! (Actually, he's more interested in cheering on his cow. And I wish you could hear him better, but the vuvuzelas do a great job of drowning out any other sound :)

Dad & son wine tasting!

Aunt Judy's beautiful bridesmaids! (Karlene, mom, Aunt Teri, cousin Kim)

Mom and her siblings - hard to get a serious pic of her with all of them together!

Love this pic of Lincoln & Papa Doug - two peas in a pod!

Beautiful baby blues!

You'd think all he ever does is sleep! *6 weeks*

After the wedding on Sunday, we decided to drive all the way to Ennis, MT. Did I mention we left at 4pm??? We were offered to stay at my Aunt Teri's in Spokane, but since we had the dogs, we felt we should just go for it that night. We calculated the trip from Wenatchee to take us 8 hours, putting us in at 1am. Little tiring, but doable. Well, since we were traveling with two dogs and a newborn, we didn't take into consideration that we would stop about 7 times, including needing a nap as well. Needless to say, 14 hours later, we got in Monday at 7am Ennis time. Between being up all night to drive and a general lack of sleep with a newborn, I'm still trying to recover!
